BASIC SAILING COURSE
Want to try out sailing? You have found the perfect place!
FreeSpirit’s Basic Sailing Course is perfect for beginners ready to start their first sailing adventure!
In this week, you will spend 5 days sailing with our experienced instructors and 1 free day exploring our beautiful island Murter, by bike or SUP.
Arrival: Saturday evening at 18:00
The course starts almost every week on Sunday morning at 09:30 and ends on Friday evening around 17:00.
Don't forget to bring
Sailing gloves, jacket, sun cream, hat and sun glasses.
- 5 days of theory
(approximately 45 minutes a day)
- 5 days of sailing with our instructor
(around 4 hours a day)
- 1 day of exploring Murter Island with stand-up-paddleboards or bicycles
- Correct boat terminology – bow, stern, mast, etc.
- Points of sailing – close hauling, reaching and broad reaching
- Trimming the sails
- Tacking and gybing
- Sailing on the course
- Collision avoidance
- Basic navigation
- Local weather patterns and forecasts
- Knot tying, docking and mooring
